How to Find Forums

To find appropriate forums in which to participate, go to Google and type in your main keyword phrase (the high traffic/competition one), then add the plus sign and type in forum/s. It would look like this without the quotes (say we are using identity theft as the keywords)...identity theft + forums and identity theft + forum. This should give you a good list with which to start. Make sure that the forums to which you post will allow you to create a live link to your site -- either with your name or in your signature file.
When you are done researching forums, do the same thing with blogs; and again, look for sites that allow you to leave a live link. Put the good forums and blogs in separate browser bookmarks folders so that you will be able to access them easily.
Make a decision to start with one topic; learn as much as you can about that topic, then go out and post on related blogs and forums to create traffic to your pages.
SEO Tips for Forum/Blog Posting
If you are posting on blogs and forums only for SEO purposes, the strategy is somewhat different. Your posts do not have to be quite as good, because you are not trying to get traffic directly. However, as you can imagine, it makes the most sense to do both SEO and traffic generation at the same time.

It is very important when looking for good blogs and forums on which to post that you are allowed to receive page rank from your posts.

For SEO, you need to find out if the blog or forum has page rank, if older posts gain page rank, and whether or not the links from the blog or forum to your site have a "nofollow" tag. You also want to find the best pages on the site on which to post.
To identify good blogs on which to post, use this approach to your Google search: type in your keywords in quotes then "leave a comment" - "no comments." Therefore, your search would look like this: "identity theft" "leave a comment" - "no comments". You also may want to look for Wordpress blogs, many of which are SEO-optimized, by typing in "powered by wordpress."
Nofollow Tags
It is very important when looking for good blogs and forums on which to post that you are allowed to receive page rank from your posts. If a site is using a "nofollow" tag, it means that Google will not travel from your link to your site. The owners of many sites want to keep the page rank for themselves, so they automatically put those "nofollow" tags on contributors' links in their HTML -- so you get no PR value.
To find these tags, look at the source of the forum or blog by right-clicking your mouse and choosing "view source." Then do a search for "nofollow" (not in quotes). You can also use Firefox with the SEO tools installed. If you use Firefox, any links with nofollow tags will show up highlighted in red. This makes it very easy to find blogs and forums that will be good places on which to post.
After you have identified some good blogs on which to post, you will want to discover which pages will give you the best results for SEO. To find these pages, type the following into the Yahoo search bar - "site:http://www.nameofblog.com" (without quotes); the results you get will give you the highest ranked pages toward the top of the search. Go ahead and post on these pages using your username that offers a free report or your sig file, if allowed.

Keywords & PPC

If you are looking for pay per click (PPC) terms that are less competitive and less expensive, choose words that have some traffic, according to this keyword tool, but fewer advertisers. If your keywords for AdWords have too little traffic, Google will penalize your campaign by raising the price per click and lowering the position of your ads.
Google's main interest with all advertisers is that you get as many clicks as possible. This is good for them, but may not be good for you. That is why when doing PPC, you must target your keywords very carefully to get the results you want at the lowest possible cost.
You need to achieve a certain number of click-throughs in order to maintain your account in good standing. Of course, you can always start a new campaign, but it is best to try to maximize your results from the beginning.
Another important thing about PPC with AdWords is that you need your long-tail keywords to appear in your ad, as well as on the landing page that links from your ad. What is page rank and how does it relate to your keyword research?
Google measures the quality of websites and web pages with a measurement device they call page rank. Every website you visit has a page rank that can be seen with the Google Toolbar (refer to the SEO module for details). Page ranks go from 0-10, with 10 being the highest (and extremely rare). The higher your page rank, the more Google values your Web page/site relative to other pages/sites. Sometimes you may see a blank in the rectangle. That means the site is not ranked, which can indicate that the site has been banned or penalized by Google.
Some article publication sites have high page ranks (such as ezinearticles.com PR 6), which gives your articles a chance of getting more highly ranked by Google. If you are lucky enough to get one of your articles high on the list, you will get a fair amount to a very large amount of traffic, depending on the keywords you used.
It is often easy to tell if keywords are competitive by looking at the page rank of the top ranked pages under a Google search on a given keyword phrase. If the page rank of the top results is 2 or less, you have a reasonable chance of getting your article high on that keyword.

Forums & Blog Postings

Using blog and forum posting can be a very effective (and free!) way to drive traffic to your Web pages and to get some search engine linking value, as well to help you gain page rank for your site. The most important thing about doing this is that you do not "spam" the forums because any such messages you leave will be deleted promptly.
When you begin to contribute to blogs and forums, do not make silly comments such as "thanks for the great post" or "that was really useful information." These types of comments will not induce people to visit your site. Your long-term goal on forums should be to network with other members, and perhaps do some joint ventures or other collaborative efforts. With blogs, the main goal is to gain page rank (links) to your site, but you can also get some traffic if you post effectively.
Forum Posting
In order to be really successful with your posts, you must add some new information to what has already been given. In other words, read the post and comments, and then add useful and thoughtful information - something that has not already been said.

Occasionally, you will find blog comments that are interesting and useful; in that case, that will be a good place for you to post also.
Do not forget that you can also post on Squidoo and Hubpages for traffic. There are probably too many links on these pages, however, for you to get much page rank from such postings.
Many sites will allow you to link to your own pages from your forum posts, and sometimes from blog posts. If they do allow this, try to comment on as many of the posts as you can and you will get traffic - that is, as long as your posts are useful and you offer something free in your link. On some forums, sig (signature) files are allowed, where you can list your Web sites and other brief information.
If you cannot add a direct link with your sig file from your post to your site, then create a username that will get attention, such as "freereportonyourkeywords," or something similar. Generally, most blogs and forums will let you link to your site from your login name. If not, do not bother posting because you will not get traffic or SEO value.
Over the long term, your goal should be to build networking relationships with forum members. Look at the questions people ask and think about how you can answer them. You may even want to create an FAQ (list of questions and answers) with the most frequently asked questions found on that forum (or similar forums) and your answers. Then offer your FAQ as a free report to other users of the forum(s).
Look at what others are doing on the site to get ideas for your own comments. Some savvy marketers get almost all their traffic from forums -- and make a very nice income doing so. If you feel you do not know enough about the topic on the forum or blog, get some ebooks (see our resources section), go to ezinearticles.com, do a Google search or go to wikipedia.com and learn something.

Over the long term, your goal should be to build networking relationships with forum members.

Do not forget that you can also share free tools and products on forums that members will appreciate. People always appreciate freely given information and resources. One great way to offer more information on a topic is to put it up on your Web site. Then mention that forum members/readers can find out more at your link. Use your domain name, and then name your information page with the topic in it...for example, www.yourdomain.com/identitytheft.php.
One of the most important things you will ever do online is to learn as much as you can about all the facets of Internet marketing and then share it with others. Later, you can create your own product with all the research you've done.

SEO & Keywords

Most of the information found on the web is sifted through search engines (SE's), as you may know. The three major SE's are Google (#1 by far), Yahoo (#2) and MSN (a distant #3). Since the main fish to catch in the SE world is Google, the strategies herein will focus on what makes Google choose your web page to be at the top of the results (and how to take advantage of the greatly increased traffic this can bring).
The techniques you will learn here are called "white hat" SEO, or safe optimization. In the past, many people who thought they had fooled the SE's ended up losing their page ranks and much of their traffic.
In one case, an Internet marketer had many niche sites and all used "black hat" techniques that were disallowed in a new update of Google's algorithm. This resulted in the loss of his entire $20,000 per month income within a day or two. You obviously would not want to put in all that effort and then lose your results because you did something Google did not like.

As with many other activities related to selling things online, SEO starts with keywords. The same keyword research you do for article marketing and pay-per-click advertising applies to SEO as well. For details on keyword research, check the keywords module.
If you have a brand new Web site, you will be penalized automatically by Google (this is called the Google sandbox), because the longer a site has been around (in good standing with Google), the more Google values it. The rationale is that only people who are serious about the Web will want to maintain a site for a number of years. One way to overcome this problem is to quickly establish some high quality links to your site. You will find notes on another way to overcome this problem at the bottom of this report under footnote (1).
The first thing you want to do is to find a major traffic keyword phrase for your long-term strategy and other long tail keywords for your start-up strategy. Try to get this major traffic keyword phrase in your domain name. If, for example, you can't get the domain name "identity theft" (not too likely), then try adding words to it until you get the name you want.
You can also add words such as "a," "the," "an," and "is." For example, you may be able to get "identitytheftis.com", which would not be a bad name. The reason you want the major keywords in the domain name is actually a bit complicated, and somewhat of an advanced concept. Generally, it is best to get a .com name rather than any other choice. If you want to know more, check out footnote (2) at the bottom of this page.
Another option is to find a more generic domain name that would work for almost any product or service (such as Yahoo, for example). You could also use your own name as your domain name, which is a way to brand yourself and not a bad idea if you intend to be online for a long time.

At any rate, lets assume you have found some less competitive long-tail keywords (LTK). Do a Google search on your keywords with quotes on each end, like this: "identity theft." Google will give you the exact match results, and your real competition. However, this means that many sites showing up in the competition section of the page (right side toward the top) have the exact same LTK that you have. Preferably, you want there to be fewer than 50,000 competing pages - in fact, the fewer the better - ideally, you should have fewer than 10,000.
Here is an example of an average keyword search. Say you are looking for a doctor. If you type in the word "doctor," you may find all kinds of information, but probably will not get the names of local doctors (for this example, say, San Francisco area). A simple refinement, then, would be to type in "doctor san Francisco, ca." This would more than likely result in a list of doctors in San Francisco.
Here are the actual results for the term "doctors." There were many more results for this term (Results 1 - 10 of about 169,000,000 for doctors) than for "doctors san francisco ca" (Results 1 - 10 of about 934,000 for doctors san francisco ca). Still, these terms have far too much competition for you to compete effectively to get to the top of the search results. Therefore, if you were looking for keywords with these terms, you would need to look further for less competitive ones

social Marketing

The sites described in this section are what are know as "networking" sites. So what does that mean? It means that you have an opportunity to get to know many people who share your interests, and who may make purchases from you at some point in time as they come to trust and like you. All of these sites are spam intolerant, which is to say that they do not tolerate sales pitches and direct selling.
If you have ever networked for your job (belonged to a professional association) or some other type of work/social type group, you should have a good idea of how to use social networks effectively. In addition, they can be used extremely successfully if you have something valuable to offer. Most of the people on these sites do not like Internet marketing programs or information on this topic, so keep that in mind as you join and begin to network.
With networking, as you get to know people, you may be approached and asked if you know someone who can write/teach/speak, etc. on the topic in which you have expressed interest. This may be an opportunity for yourself, or you may know of someone who is good at that subject that you can recommend. Multiply this effect, and you will find limitless opportunities without a great deal of pressure or stress.

From effective networking, you can expect to gain not only actual sales, but speaking opportunities in your area of expertise, joint venture opportunities and possibly even personal friendships.

After grilling her on the phone (she was pregnant with her 4th child this time and in the middle of building a house — so she didn’t have a lot of free time to chit chat…), she explained that she very much enjoyed the classes she took at home and felt they were worthwhile, but she just couldn’t fathom the thought of leaving her high paying job at a credit union to work part-time at home doing various transcriptionist jobs for a low wage.
Low wage?? What do you mean?? I thought transcriptionist jobs were  HOT and that people were making gobs of money doing it from home. My sister said….”Maybe a few are – but I don’t see a lot of people making an actual living doing it.” Now remember – this is my sister – she does not profess to be a medical transcriptionist jobs business guru of any sort. She took her classes back in 1994 – that’s quite some time ago.

“It’s extremely complex. The majority of medical billing classes only cover a small percentage of the knowledge needed to insure correct billing and coding procedures. Most teach basic data input. An established physician can have 10 to 20 different insurance companies, each with specific guidelines, different coverage and coding procedures. A claim submitted incorrectly will be rejected and not paid, sometimes for months! A claim can be rejected because the employer’s name was omitted. A claim can be rejected because the procedure is not covered at the doctor’s office but IS covered as a referral. There are many reasons claims are rejected, it is the responsibility of the biller to make sure a claim is properly submitted the first time. Even a lot of the doctors aren’t familiar with the correct codes for different procedures. To clarify further, an employer buys coverage for their employees through an insurance company. The insurance company customizes the coverage based on the employer’s needs. Let’s say you work for employer A and your sister works for employer B. You both have the same insurance company, but the coverage can be totally different between the two. The medical biller would need to know the specific coverage for each employer to properly submit claims.”

“It’s possible but only after hands on experience and whether or not a physician would allow it. The majority of patients are covered through an HMO or PPO plan. A physician would have to be very comfortable with your knowledge and ability to submit claims before they allowed you to work from home. Let’s face it, the medical biller controls the income. High denial rates cause hardship on the doctor’s practice. The claim has to be accurate, submitted correctly the first time and paid in a timely manner for the doctor to stay in business. Hands on training is the only way you will learn the individual physician’s network. An experienced medical biller would probably have to spend less time in a new job updating and training before they could work at home. Physicians should monitor new employees in the beginning. They can’t afford to find out 30 days later that a majority of their claims were rejected, it takes much too long to resubmit.”

All in all, spend time researching a medical billing course and make sure you are getting the best training you can afford. Inexpensive classes often don’t teach much more than data entry. Realize you are most likely going to be required to spend onsite time before you can work at home. Medical coders are in demand so the market is certainly a good market and not evaporating. You have time to research and do your homework, it just isn’t as easy as those advertisements lead you to believe!
